| Awards Mission: The purpose of the AHMP Awards Program is to recognize individuals, chapters and organizations for outstanding contributions in education, training, research, development, operations, and performance that furthers the objectives and the Vision-Mission-Strategy of the Academy.

Individual Member Awards:
CHAMPION OF EXCELLENCE
Academy members meeting any five (5) of the following criteria within the previous calendar year qualify to be nominated as a Champion of Excellence. There is no limit on the number of Champions of Excellence nominations that may be made from a single chapter.
- Make a personal contact to introduce the philosophy of CHMMs to a member of Academia, Industry, Business, or Government.
- Make a presentation to a Non-CHMM related civic group about issues relevant to hazardous materials management. Presentation of a CHMM Overview course will not fulfill this requirement.
- Bring a prospective CHMM member to a local Chapter meeting. Alternately, sponsor a new local chapter CHMM.
- Serve in a leadership role as a Chapter or Academy officer, board member, committee chair, or committee member.
- Write an article for the Chapter or Academy newsletter. Alternately, publish an article in a local newspaper or technical journal about issues relevant to hazardous materials management.
- Make a presentation at a CHMM Overview course or proctor a CHMM Examination.
- Write a letter to a regulatory agency or an elected government official concerning proposed environmental regulations (must be signed as a CHMM).
- Attend the National Meeting.
